Welcome

I'm Thu Le McLellan, a faculty member at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Vietnam. Currently, I'm a Ph.D. Candidate in Educational Studies at the University of Windsor, Canada.

As a teacher with a decade of experience working with adult learners at various proficiency levels, I have consistently proven myself as an outstanding and seasoned educator. I excel in building and nurturing student-teacher relationships, maintaining a professional demeanor, and demonstrating unwavering dedication and enthusiasm to ensure optimal learning outcomes for my students.

As a researcher, I have executed empirical studies at institutional, national, and international levels. My research centers on digital learning, student success, acculturation, international student experience, and international education. My studies reveal that diverse cultural, historical, social, political, and linguistic influences significantly shape international students' learning behaviors, engagement, satisfaction, commitment, and academic performance. This understanding is the foundation of my doctoral dissertation, which delves into international student acculturative stress and its various components, including sources, effects, and coping strategies.

Using a robust mixed-methods design, my dissertation research explores international students' perceived acculturative stress levels, multifaceted factors contributing to this level, and various sources of acculturative stress. Through a comprehensive analysis of stressor and coping strategies at both personal, interpersonal, structural, and cultural level, my work significantly offers a holistic understanding of international student acculturation in a foreign educational environment.

I am actively involved in various scholarly activities. My research is presented at numerous institutional and international conferences, including AERA, CSSE, OTESA, CIES, LTLT, ASHE, CAPS-I, CIESC, and GERC. I have published peer-reviewed book chapters and journal articles in prestigious journals. My career goal is to become an independent and experienced researcher in Educational and Cultural Studies while also being a dedicated educator committed to creating a creative, innovative, and effective learning environment.
